A SPECIAL REQUEST FROM ARNIE (THE “BIRTHDAY GIRL”):

OK the only advantage to getting old (yes today is my birthday) is that it offers me an excuse to ask you to please contribute to my fundraiser for wnhnfm.org, our award winning community radio station…we are here for you, please be there for us.  You can donate on facebook or at our website:

Part One:

We speak with Glenn Smith, from ProgressTexas, and formerly the architect of the great Anne Richards’s first campaign for Governor.  We discuss the status of the presidential election campaign, in which, for the first time, the Democrats have a chance of flipping Texas.  At the same time Democrats in state and local races are mounting significant challenges to the entrenched Republican majority.

We also discuss the state of the coronavirus in Texas.  The pandemic has become a dangerous threat to multitudes of people across the state because Gov. Abbott has followed similar policies to Trump’s national failure.

Part Two:

We speak with Gary Painter, professor in the Sol Price School of Public Policy at the University of Southern California, about his recent article in the Conversation: “How even a casual brush with the law can permanently mar a young man’s life – especially if he’s Black.”

This leads us into an enlightening discussion of systemic racism and economic inequality.
