Part 1:
We check in with Scott Braddock, editor of the Quorum Report, about the results of the recent Texas primary. Republicans have stuck with Abbott for Governor, no surprise. Paxton will be in a runoff with two other candidates. Paxton already attacking the other candidates as too liberal. The turnout was a bit higher than expected. There was a lot of confusion for voters, because of recent changes in voting laws, particularly around mail-in voting. Among the Democrats, more progressive candidate won their primaries. Part 2: We talk with Stephen Greene, professor of Political Science, about the amount of hidden money held by the very rich. This is difficult to pin down, because both parties in the US are beholden to the very rich for political contributions. We also discuss some of the topics of the State of the Union speech, such as police reform. This will be a big problem, unless the police unions can be reformed. Biden did not raise issues of importance to Black citizens, which we consider to be a mistake. We anticipate some inflation and price gouging due to the war, and also just plain greed.
