Part 1:
We talk with Harvey Kronberg, publisher of the Quorum Report about the situation in Texas. Unfortunately the congressional action on limiting the copay to $35 for insulin with not benefit diabetics in Texas: It only applies to people who have insurance. Texas is the state with the largest percentage of uninsured people. The governor, Abbott, has decided to fly undocumented people to Washington, D.C. as a political theater stunt. Everything he does seems aimed at garnering him attention prior to his race to retain the governorship. He and Beto are polling closely. Both Abbott and Lt. Gov. Patrick are threatening the business community with retribution for not falling in line with the Republican culture war issues. Part 2: We talk with Robert Hennelly and Bill Curry about today’s (Thursday’s) vote on Judge Brown Jackson’s nomination for the Supreme Court. Despite the Republicans’ campaign to smear her supporters, she has been confirmed. The Republican comments are a preview of what they are likely to voice during the 2022 senate races. This is related to Trump’s attacks on the unions, especially those that represent federal workers. The growing union movement is a positive sign.
