Part 1: We discuss with E J Dionne the idea of universal voting in the US. Australia already has such a practice. 96% of the population are registered to vote. Instituting this in the US would encourage more people to vote. Setting aside a day for voting would also increase participation. This would mean that all votes would be more representative of the people who are voters. Part 2: We talk with Caroline Fredrickson, who reviewed “The Anti-Oligarchy Constitution”. This is a book about how the framers intended our government to work, and how the US Supreme Court has misinterpreted the US Constitution over the years. How can Congress defeat the Court, which seems to defend the American oligarchy. From the original intent of protecting the democracy, the Court has morphed laws into economic predation.
