We have a conversation with Jon Hiatt co-founder and of counsel to the International Lawyers Assisting Workers (ILAW) Network. We discuss the rise in union activity, especially self-organizing workers who form unions without assistance or deliberate recruitment by large national unions. These fledgling unions need advice, and strategic planning training to make their efforts stick. We talk about institutionalizing the gains, and making them permanent. We raise the idea of a training program for grass roots organizers. This is needed to revitalize existing unions.
We talk with Dr. Garrett Martin, a Senior Professorial Lecturer, and the Co-Director of the Transatlantic Policy Center, in the School of International Service about this weeks primary elections in France. We discuss the way that Macron and LePen are presenting themselves to the voters, and the campaign styles that they are using. This election will have a great impact on NATO, particularly important this year.
