Skip Tenczar marks the moment:
State Republicans are changing the rules,
Because they lost, they take us for fools.
They grab by the throat,
Our right to vote.
Voter suppression laws, their campaign tools.
Our guests: Valerie Endress, John Finn, Stephen Pimpare, Dean Spiliotis
We begin our discussion with the $1400 payment to people as a cash payment to help with the pandemic. It looks like Biden is the president for the poor. This payment will cut childhood poverty by 1/3. This is the best and largest improvement since the New Deal. But Democrats are not good at selling their accomplishments.
This action shows what can be done without worrying about the filibuster. A good advice would be for Democrats to take the reins once they are elected. Otherwise, the government is at a standstill. At present, the Republicans are concentrating on their culture wars. This action was taken without any votes by Republicans.
Instead, Republicans are concentrating on voter suppression efforts. They are trying to keep people afraid. Trump continues to solicit money, not to help other Republicans, but to keep the money for himself.
We discussed Andrew Cuomo and his problems in New York, specifically his ongoing problems with women who accuse him of sexual harassment. He seems ready to 'tough it out'.
