Part 1: A discussion with Alexandria Herr about effects of climate change.
We discuss one method being used by FEMA: buying out homeowners in areas prone to flooding, and resettling them elsewhere. Unfortunately, this solution is not being applied evenhandedly. White, more prosperous homeowners are more protected by infrastructure, while others are being forced to move, with insufficient compensation.
Part 2: We talk with Robert Hockett, commentator and pundit.
We discuss the Biden trip abroad, and his expected meeting with the Chinese premier. Anti-China nationalism is currently a method of getting the Senate to approve any spending, so that anti-China framing seems a logical strategy for Biden. We also discuss tax policy, and how tax avoidance is the modus operandi for the wealthy in the US.
